Mom always had a saying and she was always correct in observing life..." life is like a bowl of cherries..some sweet and some sour.."
I remember in 1963, my mom, my sister and I spent the summer in HI, and each week, we’d stay at another auntie’s house. One day Auntie Violet asked me what I wanted for dinner; she’d make anything I wanted. I said I wanted spaghetti. I don’t think she ever made it before; but she made it for me and it was good. And I remember Auntie Ida would drive us all to the beach at Fort DeRussy - three aunties in the front seat, and the whole back of the station wagon filled with us kids, and we’d spend the day there. We’d eat pistachios and our fingers would be red from the dye…Auntie Violet always had a smile on her face.
