Mildred Margaret Courtney's Obituary
On October 9, 2023, Mildred Courtney took her final breath, surrounded by her loved ones. The sun rose and the world welcomed Mildred on March 29, 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Manuel and Mary Mo’okini Quintal. She was raised on the Big Island in Kohala. Mildred worked at the Outrigger Hotels for 61 years and rose through the ranks from switchboard operator to Government-Military Liaison, a position with wide ranging responsibilities. She was responsible for coordinating and cultivating all aspects of the military relationships with the Outrigger Hotels.
Her accomplishments and service to the military and community in Hawaii are too many to mention. Mildred lived a full and warm life, filled with joy. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Mildred is predeceased by her husband of 36 years, George S. Courtney Sr., and her son John Stanton Courtney.
She is survived by her sister, Thelma Souza, her children, Edith (Luis) Trujillo , Diane (Jerry) Cho, and George (Aurora) Courtney Jr, 7 Grandchildren Donnie, Chris, Courtney, Kelley, George III, Adam, and Brittany and 12 Great-Grandchildren Eli, Tristan, Wyatt, Amaru, Kailani, Anthony, Cruz, Aurelia, Arianie, Nazca, Peyton, and Presley.
Services will be held on November 17, 2023 from 8-11am at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Burial will be at 11:30am at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific where she will be reunited with her husband George. Please no flowers or monetary donations.
